The History of Manamore…
In spring 1965 a group of artists and art-loving women around Edina banded together to form their own art gallery. They opened one of the first Twin Cities’ art and craft boutique galleries which featured exclusively their own work. The gallery was located at 4536 France Ave South in Edina. Manamore was the name the group chose to exemplify their spirit and energy. It was a compilation from the Italian words, “Para Mano Con Amore”, meaning “made by hand with love”. Ten years later the members decided to close the gallery, but agreed to keep the organization Manamore alive. Art continues to be the glue that has held the group together for 60 years.
Manamore’s purpose is to share artistic ideas, techniques and expertise, to nurture friendships and to explore new aspects of art, while supporting each other in their creative endeavors.
Manamore welcomes new members who actively work in a creative area and who will enthusiastically participate in activities and share organizational responsibilities.
The current members wish to extend heartfelt appreciation and thanks for the founders and the energetic leadership which have kept Manamore thriving.
